Are you going through a hard season in your life at this time? It happens to all of us. Have you ever just wanted to throw your hands up and just be “done”?! I know I have many, many, many times throughout life. But then I am reminded by what Paul said in 2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light and momentary troubles/afflictions are preparing for us eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” Thank you Lord that we have HOPE!
When Paul wrote this verse, he was going through some major sufferings in his life. I feel like part of the reason he wrote this was not only as an encouragement and reminder for us, but to remind and encourage himself, in the midst of his own suffering, that there was a better day coming.
No matter what trials or tribulations you’re facing, if you are a child of God, His strength will carry you through. When we are at our weakest, His strength and power is perfected! (2 Cor 12:9) God is greater than anything we are or will ever be up against! Just when you feel like there is no hope left in whatever situation you’re in, that is when God acts on our behalf and does the impossible.
I am living proof that God will carry you through…when you feel like you can no longer go on. Looking back on the deep depths of my despair, after losing my daughter, Laken, I can literally picture Him holding me and carrying me like a baby, until I was able to stand on my own again. I was incapable of doing anything on my own during that time.
And though I was deeply grieved for many years, I can rejoice in knowing that I am a child of God and I have a Heavenly inheritance reserved with Him for eternity! (1 Peter 1:3-4) This fallen world is just my temporary home…I’m only passing through. Praise God!!!
1Peter 1:6-7 says, In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
When you are going through a hard season, are you driven to depend on God or do you let the situation drive you away from Him? If you know Him as your Savior and Heavenly Father, lean on Him and get in His word. The Holy Spirit will give you guidance, protection, comfort and strength.
If you don’t know Him personally, I urge you to pray for salvation. If you don’t know how to be saved, talk to a pastor and get in God’s word for direction. If you don’t know a pastor or where to start, I would be honored to share with and lead you through the scriptures of the “Roman Road” that leads to salvation…feel free to reach out to me via email anytime @ melissa_lumpkin@hopefullhearts.com
